This afternoon my wife and I had our granddaughter all to ourselves. Having reached the age of fifty-nine I have come to realize that there are not many advantages to getting old. Retirement is definitely one of the perks but I am not yet in a financial position to make retiree my permanent job description. I have been temporarily retired for several months now and have enjoyed every minute of it. So apart from looking forward to retirement, what else is good about getting old? The answer is being a grandparent. You get to watch the innocence and adventure of childhood for a second time.
