A Good Summer

I have been having a really good summer. There are two major reasons for this. One is that I have been retired for several months now. This, unfortunately, is only a temporary situation. I will likely be rejoining the labor force in one form or another in September.

Although most of us need to work to survive, the working life is often very stressful. There appears to be only a minority of people that honestly enjoy their jobs. The problem with stress at work is that it can really deplete your energy and will often leave one too exhausted for the things in life that they really enjoy doing. This is a tragedy because life on this earth is short. I have found that one really needs to enjoy the good times in their lives.

The other reason that I have been having a good summer is that the weather has been great in Winnipeg. We have long cold winters here so we really appreciate the warm weather in the summertime. We finally have air conditioning in our house this year and it has been like heaven for us. I enjoy outdoor activities in the summer. I like riding my mountain bike and taking our two dogs to the dog park.
