The Principal's Office (cont)

In a few minutes Richard came out of the principal's office. His eyes were teary and his hands were very red. Richard was in grade eight and was considered to be one of the tougher kids in the school. This did nothing to reduce our anxiety levels. Mr. A. strapping's were by now a thing of legend. The dreaded announcement came about one minute later. "Mr. A. wants to see you boys in his office right now." As men walking the green mile we walked passed the school secretary into Mr. A.'s office. "Miss T. told me that you boys still don't know how to line up properly when it's time to enter the school." Mr. A looked at us with a very cold stare.
'Who wants to be first to explain to me what happened out there in line?" asked Mr. A.
Billy spoke up first, "Well Mr. A, Robbie pushed me into Paul and then Paul turned around and kicked me in the privates."
"I did not you little liar Billie." "Billie shoved me and then I slid into Richard by accident. Then Richard turned around and punched me in the stomach."
Just as Richard was about to plead his innocence Donnie started to giggle, We were all so nervous that we all began to giggle and snicker."
Mr. A. gave us all a very stern look. " Obviously, you boys all think this is very funny. We'll see if you still are laughing at 3:30 this afternoon. Right after dismissal this afternoon you will line up in front of the school and we will practise how to stand perfectly still in a line for half an hour. Do I make myself perfectly clear boys?"
In unison we all responded with a hearty, "Yes sir. Thank you."
We all walked back to our classroom thanking God that we had been spared the leather strap.
