The Deliberations Have Begun
The closing statements are now over and the jury in the Casey Anthony Trial. The jury must now try to come up with a just verdict. One thing to consider is that a trial is not about guilt or innocence or even obtaining justice. There cannot be justice when a life is taken either intentionally or by accident. There will be no winners in this case and there are already losers. Whether or not Casey Anthony is convicted of first degree murder Caylee will not be returned to her family. How will the Anthony family ever manage to rebuild their lives? The family member's reputations have all been damaged if not destroyed.
I would not want to be in the jury's shoes. The circumstantial evidence all appears to point to the guilt of Casey Anthony yet the forensic evidence appears shaky. Casey's presentation while listening to other persons testimony did not help her. She came off as cold person unless something mentioned in the trial seemed to be about her own pain. There is no way that she presents as a sympathetic person to the jury. Her own attorneys have pointed this out and have told the jury that you cannot convict Casey simply because you don't like her. In my opinion Judge Perry should have called a mistrial when prosecutor Jeff Anson was caught laughing while Jose Baez was doing his closing arguments for the jury.
