It's Cold Outside
It's Cold
I made
another valiant attempt to take my two dogs out for a run at the dog
park. Our walk lasted about 10 min. Once again it was simply too
cold. The wind up on the hill was very nasty. Well at least my dogs
got to enjoy the car ride. As we were driving back I thought back to
my days as a young lad. When I was eight or nine years old, my
friends and I used to play playground hockey at the local community
club. I don't remember a hockey game ever being canceled because of
the weather. I used to be a goalie which made it much worse. The
goalie in ice hockey spends a lot of time just standing around the
net. When it is 30° below this is not a lot of fun. I don't know how
many times I froze my hands and feet playing playground hockey. We
would get to come into the clubhouse in between periods. Although we
were glad to get out from the cold our hands and feet would start to
thaw out. This is when I got the painful burning sensation in my
hands and feet. By the time my hands and feet had unthawed it was
time to go back out into the cold and play another period of hockey.
