The First Snowfall
The First
Snowfall
This week we
had our first snowfall of the year in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.
Fortunately, it hasn't been very cold. I have mixed feelings about
winter. I like snow but hate extremely cold weather. We're talking
from -25 to -40 Celsius. Sometimes with a strong wind factor it can
feel like eighty below. Needless to say, when it gets this cold
people spend as much time as possible indoors.
I used to
enjoy winter more when I was a kid. Christmas always arrived in the
winter and you got to play road hockey. You could also go ice skating
or play ice hockey if you were so inclined. It's ironic that our
winters were much colder when I was a youth. I froze my hands, feet
and even face several times during these years. As I got older I
found winter to be much more of a nuisance. During the winter season
you need to wear toques, gloves, parkas and winter boots. You also
need to run out and start your car in the cold weather. None of this
is fun. When I took my dogs out to the dog park this morning. there
was snow on the ground. As the snow wasn't deep walking on it was
relatively easy. I also noticed how beautiful the trees looked with
snow on their branches.
