Free Time Part Two

I have tried to get in a moderate amount of exercise every day. I try to get in at least forty minutes per day. The mode of exercise varies from day to day. If the weather is favorable I like to take our two dogs, Sweetie and Snuggles to the Kilcona Dog Park in Winnipeg. As both are dogs are athletic breeds they love to run and romp around in the park unrestricted by a leash. This is one of many things that our pets can teach us. Dogs love regular exercise and freedom. And of course they love to play. As the terrain at the dog park can be rough in spots I use my cane to help me get around.
I also love to write; both fiction and nonfiction. I find that writing is good for the soul as are our four legged companions.
My guitar practice sessions i have talked about in a previous blog. There is something very freeing about plugging in an electric guitar and cranking your amp up to level ten. Of course your neighbors may not enjoy your hobby as much as you do.
For other forms of exercise there is always riding a mountain bike and going to the gym. Riding a bike is still very enjoyable as you get to enjoy the outdoors. I tend tend to concentrate on gentle aerobic activity at the gym such as the treadmill and the elliptical trainer. I still do resistance training but I've cut down on the volume that I do in a week. As I grow older I find that weight training, although still necessary, really takes a toll on my body.
