The Writing Process

During the last couple of months I have started to get serious about my writing. I am a beginning fiction writer so I am still learning the ropes. I have been listening to the audio book version of Stephen King's, On Writing. I would recommend this book to any beginning writer. I get up very early in the morning and listen to one disc per day from this audio book collection. I have found that to get the most benefit from these CDs one needs to listen to each disc several times. There is a wealth of practical, useful information for the aspiring writer of fiction. The key advice that I have picked up from Mr. King so far, is that to get good at writing, one must read a lot and write a lot. To this end I have started writing for at least two hours per day and every chance I get I read a book on my Kobo ereader or listen to a contemporary novelist's audio book.
