The Cover Up Novel by Ken David Stewart Part 29
Drake
was sitting in a chair outside Lisa Harrison's office. A few days ago
he received a letter in the mail asking that he attend a very
important meeting in the executive director's office. Drake could
easily guess what this meeting would be about. As Drake was called to
enter Lisa's office he saw Dick Meyer's sitting in a red leather
chair next to the executive director's desk. He turned to see Hugh
Stadbrook, the national representative for the union seated to the
left of Lisa's desk.
“Mr.
Stephens I have asked that Mr. Meyers and Mr. Stradbrook also be
present at this meeting as I have some serious issues to discuss with
you,” said Lisa.
“And
I'm here to support you Drake and to see if we can come to some
mutual agreement with administration over some of the issues that are
troubling them,” said Hugh Stradbrook. Hugh was a small wiry man.
The top of his head was balding. He sounded nervous while he was
talking and could not make eye contact with Lisa Harrison or Dick
Meyers.
“To
be very blunt Drake we're concerned about your attitude and even the
state of your mental health. I don't know how much Mr. Stradbrook is
going to be able to help you, but you are entitled to union
representation, “ said Dick Meyers. “I would also like to say
that we're aware that in the past you had a significant impact upon
improving our services to our clients. We'd like to thank you for
that but we're now moving in a new direction and I don't think that
you are on board with us.”
“Wow,
this sounds very serious Dick. Are you implying that my employment
here is in jeopardy?”
“It
very well could be, Drake. A lot of it is going to depend upon you
and how much progress we make in today's meeting,” said Meyers.
